Treat yourself this afternoon with a little afternoon tea and scone! So cheap, quick and really tasty!

  1. Preheat your oven to 230c. Sieve the flour, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl. Then drop the cubes of butter in. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips - be as light as you can, and try to make sure your hands are not too hot.
  2. Add the milk, and mix into a soft dough, it should be a bit elastic in consistency.
  3. Sieve some flour onto a clean surface, turn out the dough. Gently flatten to about 2cm thick. Trying not to handle too much.
  4. Cut the dough into circles with a cutter, then brush with a bit of beaten egg, or milk. Sieve a little flour onto a baking tray, and place your cut scones on the sheet - evenly spaced, as they will expand. Now cook for 10-12 minutes,
  5. These are delicious hot from the oven with butter, and with butter and jam. And of course the old classic, clotted cream and jam. Try making your own jam, my version is easy peasy!
