Perfect Porridge

This is the traditional scottish way to eat porridge oats and oatmeal. I was very dubious as a milky porridge lover, but this is seriously delicious!!


  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 cup Oatmeal or rolled oats
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 large dollop Jam try a homemade one, it goes beautifully!


  1. Add your water to a pan, over a medium heat. Then add your oatmeal, and then bring to the boil. Now add your salt, and let the porridge cook gently for about 5 mins. Now it is ready to eat, serve with Jam or honey, or anything else of your choice. Also add milk or cream if you like. A great way to start your day!
