These are delicious, so much better than shop bought! Happy Christmas. :) You can even give this lovely mincemeat as gifts for Christmas, a great addition to any Chrsitmas hamper!

Homemade Mince meat and mince pies

These are delicious, so much better than shop bought! Happy Christmas. :) You can even give this lovely mincemeat as gifts for Christmas, a great addition to any Chrsitmas hamper!

  1. Mix your chopped fruit, peel, butter, zest, apples and spices in a large bowl. Now heat the rum and sugar gently, until the sugar is dissolved and pour the liquid over the fruit etc. Mix well, cover and let is soak overnight. Spoon the mix into some sterile jars, and let it 'mature' for a couple of weeks.
  2. These mince pies are lovely served hot with a splash of cream, you can make your own pastry http://www.myingredients.com/recipes/easy-shortcrust-dessert-pastry/ and spoon in about a tsp of mix into each pie. Cook at 180c for about 15-20 minutes until golden, and hot through.
