Delicious flapjacks - perfect for a midnight feast!

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas4/Fan oven 160C.
  2. Put the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a medium/large pan. Stir over a low heat until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove pan from the heat and stir in oats. Add a few handfuls of raisins or sunflower seeds if liked.
  4. Roughly line a tin with some baking paper. Press the mixture into the tin to your preferred thickness and smooth down with a palette knife. Don't worry if the tin is too big - these quantities half fill a standard baking tray.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Allow to cool in the tin for 5 minutes then mark into bars or squares with a knife while still warm. Cool in the tin completely before cutting and removing - this prevents the flapjack from breaking up.
  6. Enjoy!!
