A big favourite for those chilly nights! You can let this slow cook for ages, the meat is lovely and tender then, I would say an hour and a half at least!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to about 160c, then start getting everything ready. You will need a dish with a lid, one that is suitable for he hob and oven. Heat a dash of olive oil in it, and gently fry your veg for about 5 mins, stirring occasionally" they should have time to soften. Meanwhile, coat the meat in flour, ready to cook / brown. Once the veg is softened, remove and set aside, add another dash of oil, then brown the meat. This should take a few minutes.
  2. Then add the veg, wine and gravy, and gently bring to a simmer, make sure you give it all a good stir to get the tasty stuff from the bottom of the pot too. Once simmering cover with the lid and place in the oven, ideally for about 2-3 hours, the longer it cooks on this low heat the more tender the meat will be. Try adding some homemade dumplings for the last half hour of cooking... Yum yum!
